King Sejong the Great
☞ 10월 9일은 '한글날'이다. 이 날은 세종 대왕이 창제한 한글의 요체인 훈민정음의 반포를 기념하기 위하여 정한 날이다. 또한 이 날은 쉽고, 정교하며 체계적인 한글을 칭송하기 위한 날이다. 이 날은 아주 중요하고 뜻있어서 휴일로 여겨진다.
  한글 창제에 관한 글을 읽기 전에 우리는 그 당시의 사회에 대해 알 필요가 있다; 사람들은 크게 <반 & 상> 2가지 계급으로 구성되었다. 반은 높은 신분의 범주이었고, 어를 사용하면서 사회를 이끌거나 지탱하였다. 상은 낮은 신분의 범주였고, 배움이 적고 피지배 계층으로, 음차(?) 형태인 이두나 향찰을 사용하였다.

  이처럼 상위와 하위 계층 사이의 언어 격차는 아주 강렬해서 사람들 사이에 의사소통에 많은 문제가 있었고, 사회는 점점 양분되어갔다. 또한 나랏말씀이 어의 소리에 대한 표기와 다르기도 해서 국가적인 갈등이 있기도 했다. 이에 세종대왕은 <바른 글로 백성들을 가르친다>는 뜻의 '훈민정음(1443)'을 통해 쉽고도 통일적인 언어 시스템을 만들어내기로 결심했다. ← 글 = 소리+표기 → 말+씀

  하지만 <새로운 언어>의 도입은 중대한 난관에 봉착했다; 상위 계층의 구성원들은 이미 친숙해진 어를 버리고 낯선 언어를 새로이 배우자니 적잖이 당혹스러웠다. (그 당시 상황을 헤아려보면 충분히 납득이 갈거다.) 그랬다. 그 당시 많은 귀족들로부터 반대가 있었고, 심지어 저항(?)조차 있었다.
  반대 세력의 알력에도 불구하고, 세종대왕의 결심은 단호했다; <훌륭한 분들의 모임장소>란 뜻의 국가 기관인 '집현전'을 세워 학자들을 모아 연구토록 했고, 3년 후인 1446년에 널리 반포되어 활용되었다. 그리고 훗날 국가적인 휴일인... '한글날'이 생겨나다!
  이제 여러분들은 '한글'이라는 언어로부터 국가적인 휴일을 얻게된 발자취를 알게 될거다.

☞ 'Hangle Day' is on October 9th. The day is for commemorating the distribution of HunMinJeongEum, the prototype of Hangle, which was created by the King Sejong the Great. Also the day is for extolling Hangle, which is easy, compact and systematic language.
  Before we read the story of the creating Hangle, we need to know the society at that time; there were mainly two classes of people: ban & sang. Ban was in the category of upper class, who were controlling and sustaining society, using classical Chinese. Sang was in that of the lower class. who were controlled and less learned, using idu/hyangchal - somewhat like letter-importing.
   As the writing of Korean is different from that of Chinese
  The language gap between the upper and the lower was so intensive that there were a lot of problems in communicating with people, the society getting into divided. Also the writing system of [mal] was different from Chinese, resulting into national conflict. As of it, the Great King Sejong decided to create an easy and uni~ language system, HunMinJungEum(1443), which has the meaning of <teaching people with right phonemes>. ← gle = sound + writing = writing [mal]

  But the adoption of <the new language> met a crucial difficulty; the members of the upper class were very bewildered - giving up their familiar Chinese language and learning a strange one newly. (You might fully understand the situations.) Yes, there were a lot of objections, even registance(?) from noblemen.
  In spite of the conflict with the counter, the Great King Sejong's resolution was very firm; there was a special orgnization, JibHyŏnjŏn, the Hall of Worthies, enlisting the services of scholars. After 3 years' endeavor, it was distributed and used widely. And later, even the ... national holiday, Hangle Day!
  Now, you might understand the trace of getting a national holiday from a language, Hangle.

 한국어의 모체인 한글에 대한 영어 표기인 ‘Hangle’는 영어 단어 'hangle‘와 밀접한 관련이 있다. 즉, ‘hangle’은 '매달다'라는 'hang'의 'han'이 '걸다/매달리다'라는 'dangle'의 'gle'와 합성되어 '~걸이'라는 뜻을 지니거나 <호우다/후다/꺾다> 등에서 각도를 나타내는 ‘angle’의 ‘gle’와 합쳐져 ‘~잡이/handle’란 뜻도 지닌다. (다른 발음/뜻이 있기도 하다.)
  The Korean language, 'Hangle' has relation with the English word 'hangle'. That is, English word 'hangle' has two types of meaning. The one is it has the meaning of hanger type which is the combination with 'han' from 'hang' and 'gle' from 'dangle'. The other, handle type, 'han' from 'hang' and 'gle' from 'angle'. (There could be some other meanings.)

한글은 모음 11개와 자음 18개의 조합으로 세계의 모든 음소를 망라하는 <음소의 전형(典型/index)>이며,  300 million 글자를 지닌 한글은 동*서양을 아우르는 <범세계적인 언어체계>이다.

한글 자*모음 개요(槪要[]) - Summary

 한빛 이기희가 제시하는 한글(Hangle)엔 3억이 넘는 글자들이 있다;
 한글은 기본적으로 14개의 자음과 11개의 모음으로 구성된다.
 먼저, 자음엔 14개의 기본 자음에다 乙(r), ∀(v), ス(j), (f)라는 4개의 자음이 추가되어 18개의 낱자음이 있다. 또한 18개의 낱자음이 합성된 324개의 겹자음을 합쳐 342개의 자음이 있다.
 다음, 모음은 크게 점모음(Dot Vowel) 과 가로모음 그리고 세로모음으로 구분된다; 먼저, 상*하 / 좌*우에 1개 또는 2개의 막대가 붙은 띠모음(Bar Vowel)이 기본모음(가로(5) & 세로(5))이다. 또한 상*하 / 좌*우에 1개 또는 2개의 점이 붙어 우선순위를 가늠하는 겹모음(Dual Vowel))이 있고, 세로모음을 둥글게하는 둘레모음과 'ㅣ[i]' 추가인 이겹모음 그리고 바탕모음인 띠겹모음, 가로이겹모음, 가로이세겹모음 그리고 네겹모음 등 가로 47, 세로 54 도합 101개의 낱모음이 있다. 이를 바탕으로 가로모음과 세로모음이 결합된 2538개의 합성모음(bar 합성모음, dot 합성모음, 둘레합성모음 그리고 이겹합성모음) 등 총 2639개의 모음이 있다. 
 그러한 자음과 모음이 초성*중성(TM) 형태로 90,2538개의 글자를 형성하고, 초성*중성*종성(TMB) 형태로 3,0866,7996개의 글자를 형성한다.
 그리하여 한글엔 총 3,0957,0534개의 TM 유형과 TMB 유형의 글자들이 있는데, 한빛 이기희는 <테이블 태그를 이용한 모음> 유형에다 <변수 형태의 자음>을 도입 -> 프로그래밍하여 그 초인류(preterhuman) 글자들을 보여준다.

 There are more than 300 million letters in Hangle:   
 Basically letters are composed of 14 consonants and 11 vowels.
 First, the consonant part has 18 simple consonants, including newly addded ones.  Also the simple consonants are combined together, resulting into 324 compound consonants, including fortis. In total: 342 consonants
 Next, in case of vowels, there is a deep round vowel, 'Arae o' and there are Horizontal Vowels & Vertical Vowels; Based on H*V vowels, there are 10 basic vowels(H(5)/V(5)) with 1 or 2 bar-added. Also there are dual vowels with 1 or 2 dot-added. There are umlaut vowels & duple vowels. Addingly, there are <botm vowels>: bar dual vowels, h._i_dual vowels, h. i_triple vowels and quad vowels. Thus, there are 47 horizonal vowels & 54 vertical vowels and in total 102 individual vowels. Also there are 2538 H*V compound vowels such as horizontal & vertical; H*V with bars, H*V with dots, H*V with umlauts, H*V with duple vowels and quad vowels. In total: 2639 Vowels
 Letters are formed with Top consonants and Mid vowels(TM) or Top consonants, Mid vowels and Bottom consonants(TMB). The total num of letters in Hangle will be 309,570,534, which is so numerous that Hangle is called 'a preterhuman language'.
